After a love story years in the making, Sophie Delezio and Joseph Salerno have officially tied the knot — in a stunning ceremony in the Hunter Valley surrounded by friends and family.
The inspirational couple, who met as kids and became best friends in high school before eventually falling in love, were married in a stunning ceremony at Anambah House in the Hunter Valley over the weekend. The couple first shared news of their engagement in The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2023.

“Honestly, Joseph is the most open and accepting person I’ve ever met,” Sophie said of her then-fiancee. “He just understands and jumps in when I need help. I never have to ask or explain. It’s an absolute honour to be marrying him.”
And the feelings were clearly mutual.
“She has always been the strongest person I’ve ever known. I could tell from our first handshake, a very strong grip,” said Joseph at the time. “Strong, confident and generous, those three words best describe Sophie. That’s what I see when I’m with her.”
When was Sophie’s wedding?
The couple had originally planned to wed in October 2024, but postponed when they found out they were expecting their first child, baby Frankie, who arrived in September 2024.
On April 12, 2025, Sophie and Joseph finally said “I do”. Sophie gave fans a sneak peek into her magical day via Instagram Stories.
Sophie looked radiant in a classic ball gown-style wedding dress, complete with intricate beaded detailing. The timeless silhouette was a perfect match for the heritage-listed Anambah House estate.
Her bridal party complemented her look beautifully, dressed in champagne-hued gowns in varying styles. The groom looked dapper in a brown tailored suit and matching boots.
Who is Sophie Delezio?
Sophie first captured Australia’s heart as a toddler, surviving two traumatic car accidents that left her with life-altering injuries. Despite the odds, she went on to live a vibrant and independent life, studying abroad in London, skydiving, rowing, swimming, and becoming a passionate advocate for resilience and recovery.
Through it all, Joseph was never far from her side. The pair have known each other since they were six years old, reconnected in high school, and remained close even when Sophie moved overseas to study. It wasn’t until she returned from London in 2020 that their friendship blossomed into something more.

In true rom-com fashion, Joseph proposed on Valentine’s Day 2023, transforming their apartment into a candlelit haven filled with rose petals, fairy lights, and a scrapbook of their shared memories. The final page? A photo of a custom-designed engagement ring — a trinity style symbolising their past, present, and future.
“It’s everyone’s dream to fall in love with their best friend,” Sophie shared at the time. “Although it’s something you usually only see in the movies.”
Ahead of their wedding, she spoke openly about wanting the day to reflect the deep appreciation she and Joseph have for their loved ones.
“We want our wedding to be a celebration of our gratitude,” she said. “There are so many people who have helped us get where we are today, and I wouldn’t be here without them.”
Does Sophie Delezio have children?
Sophie and Joseph have one child together, Frankie, who was born in September 2025.
The couple shared the news of Sophie’s pregnancy in April 2024 with a sweet post with the caption: “The greatest gift of all coming in September!”
Frankie arrived happy and healthy in September.
