Heard of your gut microbiome? It could be trying to tell you something.

Trust your gut.

There’s a big conversation around gut health in wellness and medical circles lately. The importance of the gut to our overall health has become a widely researched topic, with the gut’s microbiome specifically under the spotlight.

What is the gut microbiome?

Our bodies are home to various microbiomes; clusters of microorganisms that function together to influence almost every system and function in our bodies, from our skin to our mouth, eyes and internal organs.

The gut is the body’s largest microbiome and is the most influential on our health. It is made up of a complex collection of trillions of microorganisms including bacteria and a vast array of genetic material that makes us uniquely, us – and everyone’s microbiome is different.

To function effectively, gut bacteria need to exist in a symbiotic environment, with mutual benefit and cooperation to promote good health. When this environment is disrupted or imbalanced, the gut microbiome cannot operate effectively, and that’s where things can get out of whack.

According to Griffith University’s ‘Aussie Gut’ project, imbalances in the gut have been associated with a wide variety of health issues and can negatively impact your weight, sleep, metabolism, allergies and respiratory health, as well as causing bloating, gastrointestinal upsets and fatigue.

Supporting your gut’s microbiome.

If you’re noticing occasional stomach discomfort, bloating, gassiness, constipation or diarrhoea, your gut’s microbiome may be out of balance. Lifestyle factors, certain medications such as antibiotics and a lack of dietary fibre can alter your gut’s microbiome so it doesn’t function as well as it could.

Many people find taking a probiotic is beneficial to support digestive health and regularity. But not all probiotics are the same. Isagenix Tri-Biotic has been scientifically formulated with a three-pronged approach to gut health, utilising Pre, Pro and Post-biotic strains specifically created to support a thriving gut microbiome, normal bowel regularity and ease.

Probiotics are the ‘friendly’ bacteria that live inside the gut and help to support our health. Prebiotics are nutrients, mainly fibre, that feed probiotic bacteria in our gut. And Postbiotics are the by-products produced by the probiotic bacteria when they consume prebiotics, that produce beneficial compounds for gut health.
