In this biopic, Natalie plays First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Jackie is set during the days immediately following the assassination of Jacqueline’s husband, President John F. Kennedy and Natalie’s performance is phenomenal; in fact, she was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for this film.

Thor
Because she’s won an Oscar and does tend to star in a lot of ‘serious’ films, people often forget Natalie’s got comedic chops. In Thor, she gets to flex them a bit and is very enjoyable in the Marvel film that catapulted Australia’s Chris Hemsworth to fame.

No Strings Attached
Again, Natalie gets to show off her rarely used comedic skills in No Strings Attached. The film follows Emma (played by Natalie) and Adam (played by Ashton Kutcher), who become friends with benefits. A great idea, right?

Black Swan
Black Swan is an outstanding film. The plot is darkly gripping, the cinematography and direction of Darren Aronofsky is unparalleled, and everyone’s performance is exceptional – especially Natalie’s; as aforementioned, this is the performance that earned her her Oscar. Set in a future dystopian society, this film brings together Natalie and Australia’s Hugo Weaving. V, played by Hugo, is a vigilante hoping to overthrow the society’s oppressors. And when he saves a young woman named Evey, played by Natalie, he realises he finally has an ally to help him do so.

Closer
Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen all in the same movie; what more could you want? Closer tells the story of two couples, whose lives become rather complicated when the man from one couple meets the woman of the other.

Okay, okay; Natalie only has a small role in Heat but it’s still a great film. Starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jon Voight and Val Kilmer, Heat follows a group of professional thieves who unknowingly leave a clue at their latest heist, and therefore, are then pursued by the LAPD.
