Kate Middleton reveals Princess Charlotte may be following in Diana’s footsteps

The young princess seems to have inherited more than just a title from her late grandmother.

Princess Charlotte’s love for ballet has been revealed by Kate Middleton once again.

The Princess of Wales shared this rare personal nugget – she is usually quite private about her children – when she recently visited the Standfast & Barracks Printworks Factory in Lancaster where she bonded with seven-year old Emily May Catto.

Catto presented the Princess with a bouquet of flowers and an illustration whilst politely conversing. When asked by the Princess what her favourite activity was, Catto revealed she liked to dance.

“My daughter Charlotte loves dancing, she loves ballet and tap…keep up the dancing!”

This isn’t the first time we have heard Kate Middleton gush over her daughter’s talents. At a 2020 outing in Galway, Kate connected with a young four year old girl over her similar age to Princess Charlotte and their shared love for dance.

Known for her hands-on parenting style, Kate Middleton attempts to give her children a normal-ish childhood, and involves them in a broad range of hobbies and activities such as rugby, gymnastics, and soccer.

However, the eight-year-old princess’ passion for plies has us feeling rather nostalgic.

Her late grandmother, Princess Diana also held a well known love for ballet, and it could very well be a trait she has passed down to Charlotte and her older brother, Prince George who have both been taking dance lessons since 2018.

Wanting to be a ballerina, Diana was sadly told she was too tall. However years later she became the Patron of the English National Ballet, and even went on to give a surprise performance of Uptown Girl for King Charles at the Royal Opera House in 1985.

In 1985 Diana, who loved ballet, took to the stage to perform at dance to Uptown Girl with Wayne Sleep at the Royal Opera House.

Family outings to the Royal Opera House seem to be a long standing tradition, with Princess Charlotte and Kate attending the ballet for a rendition of Cinderella earlier this year, thirty-three years after Diana’s surprise show!

Princess Charlotte may be unknowingly following in Diana’s footsteps, and we can’t wait to see where the young Princess’s extra curricular activities lead her.
