Princess Charlotte of Wales is the second child and only daughter of Prince William and Princess Catherine.
She was born on May 2, 2015 in London at St Mary’s Hospital, and her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – her middle names sweetly pay tribute to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her late grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Currently third in line to the British throne (following her father and her older brother, Prince George), Princess Charlotte’s current role in the royal family involves participating in royal duties and engagements appropriate for her age, supporting charitable causes, and representing the monarchy both in the UK and abroad.

How old is Princess Charlotte now?
Charlotte is now 9-years-old – and according to Jason Kelce, has a “fire to her”.
The NFL player – and brother of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce – met the young princess at Taylor’s Eras Tour in June 2024. He and Travis then detailed the encounter on their podcast New Heights.
“Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte,” Jason said. “She was so f**king adorable.”
“She was a superstar,” Travis added.
“Maybe because I have three girls now. She had a fire to her. She was asking questions,” Jason continued.
What happened to Princess Charlotte?
Charlotte made history when she was born. Her birth marked the first time in British history that a female royal retained her place in the line of succession despite having a younger brother, Prince Louis, due to changes in succession laws that came into effect in 2015, which prioritise birth order over gender.
Where does Princess Charlotte live now?
Charlotte lives with her family. The Wales family’s primary residence is Kensington Palace in London. They also spend time at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, which is known to be their country home.
Will Princess Charlotte lose her title?
There is no reason to expect that Charlotte will lose her title. At birth, her official title was Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge but following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Charlotte’s official title is now Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Wales.
Of course, as the royal family’s structure inevitably changes through the years, Charlotte’s full title will also change slightly throughout her life.
But, ultimately, she’ll always be considered a ‘princess’ – unless there’s an unprecedented change in circumstances or royal protocols, but that’s very, very unlikely.
