When The Australian Women’s Weekly published its very first edition on June 10, 1933, Princess Elizabeth was just seven years old and the idea that she would one day be Queen was not yet in anyone’s thoughts.
But even so, there was no question that the world was fascinated by the life of then-Prince Albert’s oldest daughter. And that was reflected in the constant coverage in our pages of the young Princess’ life, from those early days through to her wedding, her coronation, her life as both mother and monarch, and far beyond.
In honour of the late Queen Elizabeth, exactly one year on from her death, we’ve revisited every time Her Majesty graced the cover of The Weekly.
